14 days in...

Greetings from Rome!

So I've been a bit slack so far... been away for almost two weeks and this is the first time that I've made it to an Internet cafe. I think this is the longest I've been away from a computer in a loooong time (did someone say 'geek'?).

So we're having a wonderful time... we've climbed the Eiffel Tower in Paris, and the Duomo in Florence, walked the streets of Rome by day, and by night, and tomorrow we're off to Venice where we'll be doing the whole 'gondola' thing.

Treviso was lovely... a beautiful Italian city, less touristy than any we've visited so far. We found it hard to find anyone that actually spoke English... can you imagine? Thankfully my Italian has been getting us by without too many strange looks... people are a little confused about why I'm speaking a dialect rather than 'proper' Italian, but we're communicating none the less.

The tour so far has been great... we've got a really good bunch of people (almost all from either Australia or New Zealand) and the crew are pretty good as well.

The highlight of the trip so far has been Switzerland... we stayed in a little village up in the alps (near Jungfrau) and it was absolutely amazing to walk outside and be looking up at huge mountains on either side of you. We spent a day mountain biking through the countryside and down the mountains!

I'll try to send another email in the next few days...

Miss you all!

One sleep to go...

[Aaron] Well it's 9:20pm on Friday night and I'm pooped already. I had today off work, and boy did i need it... didn't get a sleep in I was out of the house by 9am. Did Chadstone, Queen Vic market, Big W in the city and Southland all in one day! On the plus side I now have a suitcase for the trip and am almost finished packing (taking a break at the moment to pay some final bills and watch some footy and cricket).

We're off to the airport at 11am tomorrow, flight leaves at 2pm. Not looking forward to the 24 hour flight in the slightest... I'm gonna do my best to get an exit row on the plane (as long as we still get our headrest TVs). We're as prepared as we can get though - we have eyemasks, ear plugs, neck pillows, back pillows and sleeping pills!

A big goodbye to everyone, we'll be making the next update to this blog from the other side of the world...

Big hugz, Aaron & Jodes xoxox
